According to the Security Experts, stopping support to Window XP is helping hackers to hack ATM's. Because most of the ATM's in India or other countries are running on XP platform. From 8 April onwards, Microsoft stopping giving updates to XP operating system and with this an ATM can easily be hacked by hackers. Because for updating systems to Window 7 or 8 can cost lots of money to banks.
It is possible to hack Window XP with the security updates of Window 7, 8 or vista. With the closing of update facility virus can easily be enters into the systems and hackers can take full control of it. Technique of Hacking with inserting pen drive is only possible on XP. With the help of security experts in San Francisco, a pen drive can attached to the ATM machine by the hackers which is preloaded with the malware which effects the functioning of the ATM.
By this Malware, they can access 12 digit code and got information of how much money is present in the ATM and where it needs to be transferred according to the hackers. With only one message that will be displayed on the screen after inserting pendrive hackers can get full access of the ATM. According to the resources, about 45% of ATM's in India are working on XP platform and prevent support from Microsoft can have huge impact on India.
There is no doubt that with the closing of Window XP, it can prevent hacking because pen drive technique is only working on XP. But also lots of ATM machines will also be shut down. With these technique hackers cannot hack the Pincode of the Users but it is dangerous to banks and they need to change their operating systems as soon as possible.
